Carbon dated as 3,000 years old, the slab from which this coffee table was made is a unique piece of organic “found” art. Cracks and splits in the boards, figured grain and knots, the deep rich color, a result of lying in a swamp for millennia, are the charm of bog oak. The artisan’s challenge is to capture this beauty and give the ancient tree a second life as a functional piece of furniture.
This is a one of a kind creation, but commissions are accepted to build coffee tables to custom dimensions from a large stock of slabs on hand.
The reeded leg columns are American white oak.
